                     "Wonderlust Christmas" Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year.  It is the season of perpetual hope, of good news and it is also a time where the world noticeable pauses for a moment to think about other people, to share stories and updates with friends and family something we get so far away from over the course of the year.  It's probably more of a domestic thing than worldly but holistically and culturally western society eases up a bit to allow genuine joy to seap through the barriers of everyday hard work. Conquering Freedom "Delayed Gratification?" Delayed Gratification (DG) has come up several times over several years in conversation with really good friends - so maybe its time to think about this message. Well in thinking, every time I hear the word delay, I sort of fringe and I immediately begin to create this negative stronghold in my mind that is associated with waiting. Waiting...for what? And why? Conquering Freedom "One Soulful Night" A few weeks back, a good friend of mine and his wife invited me to dinner.  The dinner was a fundraiser for a non profit called The Auditory Verbal Center.  The purpose of this organization is to serve people who are hard of hearing or who are deaf at varying degrees.  With this comes many challenges in communicating with people but most importantly just the simple delight in hearing the lovely sounds we take for granted everyday.   While I do not have any speech impediments or a loss of hearing, I became really inquisitive with this cause and the people impacted because to me it seemed pretty extreme. I mean how is it POSSIBLE to navigate life without the ability to hear? I could not begin to imagine. I've always delighted in the sounds of everything yet it again it seems like another thing I have taken for granted.  Can you picture not being able to hear the voices of your significant other, your mom or dad, ...

Conquering Freedom "Remaining poised and present" Often, I get ahead of myself in my own head with my own thoughts. Has that ever happened to you where you find yourself lost in the moment, lost in the present thinking about the next? Like what am I doing tonight?, what's for dinner tomorrow? Meantime, the beauty of the current moment passes away along with the joy you are entitled to as a human being. It's a dangerous place to be when you are living for what may not come to fruition or for your own expectations.  We are only guranteed the current moment, that's all we truly have and life is much more enjoyable when we look through this lense.
