"Faith is surrendering and trusting"

 "Faith is surrendering and trusting"

Faith is a very interesting concept and one that so many people struggle with including myself.  I think the reason is because we look for some outcome concerning faith when we need or want something instead of viewing faith as the foundation for how we should live healthier lives. The foundation being surrendering to what is and trusting that what is, is suppose to be.  What if we decided to view faith as a cornerstone of our lives instead? A cornerstone being a grounded philosophy in how we approach life experiences which guide our actions, motivate our souls and heal our egos. The question then becomes should faith be described as the act of believing without seeing? Many people would say yes this is how they understand faith and the only work required is just...believing. The belief that something will transpire or come to pass if you believe hard enough yet there is so much more work to be done than just believing.  I recently learned there are two other components that make up faith. Faith is actually surrendering to something and trusting that this surrendering is the process that will lead you strong enough in your belief to change your attitude, your habits, and thoughts about something. So is it believe first or surrender first to believe?  Surrendering requires an acknowledgement that your limited ability and knowledge as a human needs support, and guidance.  It needs a spiritual source, something far greater than yourself.  It needs you to be vulnerable and open.  Unfortunately, this recognition is something we don't stop enough in our day to day lives to realize or we live in fear because we are afraid of the unknown or illegibly end result.  Just know if there is no surrendering first there can be no trust in your process and therefore no faith of the presumed outcome.  Underlying faith is a treasure you have to discover within yourself and requires you to give of yourself and of your ego to reap the rewards.  I still struggle in my faith but I am working on it.

Be well,

Vic
