"My Journey Across The Atlantic Part II"
Be well,
Vic
The second leg of my trip was really interesting. I ended up going to Dublin, Ireland. When I landed I could tell the major difference between the city of London and the serenity of Dublin. My pockets could also tell the difference too because I went from paying the British pound to the euro which made things a lot more affordable in Ireland.
The very first thing I noticed in Ireland was that there were no black people lol. Great cultural experience for sure but dang I did not see a hint of African or African American people. I wasn't shocked but its always good to visit places where you have little roots to see how other people live. On my first day I took some time to walk around the city. It was cold, rainy and windy so that was about all I could take for the first day. On the second day, I did a hip on and off bus tour which took me around the entire city. Normally, I would get off explore and get back on at various stops but I enjoyed the ride so much and the history I just stayed on the bus until it looped back to my hotel. Dublin is interesting because its a blue collar city. Everything is pub like, very few chain restaurants and a strong community of everyday people It does remind me of vintage Durham before RTP and big corporations moved into town.
Everyday I had the luxury of walking by Aviva stadium to catch the train. Yup, I caught the wrong trains again. The thing is everything that is left is right and every right is....usually the right way if this makes sense. So I got on the train on the right side of the tracks and it took me further away. You get on, on the left side and it takes you closer into town. Anyhow, everyone who knows me knows that I like architecture, buildings, stadiums and big structures. From this angle you cant see the opening but its a cool dipped, curved opening from the other side. This is where the national rugby team plays. The capacity is about 60K.
On my third day I decided to do a railroad back country tour. A friend of mine suggested I visit Glendalough, Wicklow and Arlow which are cool towns on the Ireland country side. This photo is of the oldest hand milling/weaving factory in Ireland and our stopped included a tour of this place which makes fine fabrics. The journey to this place was cool because the rain took us down Ireland beautiful coast and then we took a bus into the towns.
Here I am at Glendalough. I'm not sure what this structure is I wasn't really paying attention lol. At this point I was wet from all of the rain and just decided to take a moment to enjoy the sites.
This is another cool structure at Glendalough and these are actual tombs of people. Again, I am not sure of who I just thought it was a cool photo. All in all this concluded my trip across the pond. I am looking forward to the next one. What is not captured is a lot of the greenery and this is because I could not get any great shots on the train through the glass. The greenery is amazing and something I wish I could share but until the next journey.
Be well,
Vic
